Alex and Brian met in the dingy basement of a Moncton bar in the late summer of 2001, and after settling into an immediate disrespect for each other, decided to do a little jamming. At the time, Brian was hosting a karaoke night using outdated equipment in an even dingier basement bar, which Alex joined as co-host, apparently deciding that Brian shouldn't receive all the embarrassment on his own. Semi-proudly hosting the Cheesiest Karaoke in Moncton, they developed the basis of their bantering and mutually-abusive style that has become one of the features of their show. Their first (paying) gig was in January 2002, and since they still play on a regular basis at this spot (luckily not in a basement), they feel they must not suck that bad overall. After considering a variety of possible band names -- including "Wheel Well", "Two Guys Not Ralph", and "Brian & Alex's Not So Excellent Adventures Into Babysitting, Taxidermy, and Arson (Although Not In That Order But Often Concurrently)" -- they stumbled upon "Toulouse Cruise," thinking that the drunker they were when trying to pronounce it, the more apt it seemed... Today, Toulouse Cruise prides itself in being the amongst the top 137 discount duos in Moncton, as per a recent survey at a local Tim Horton's. Click To Return To Bio's
