Since that lonely 'Monday Night Jam' at Fats way back when, Alex has been entranced by the stage... not so much by the starry lights, but more for the free booze and hordes of women than anything. Eventually, many years down the road, this led Alex to the important discovery that it's actually the drummer who gets all the chicks. This is why in Toulouse Cruise they HAVE no drummer... or, at best, they let Dan sit in (let's face it - Dan makes ANYONE look pretty).
Alex crafted his trade during a 7-year stint in the Miramichi -- okay, not actually IN the river, but along its picturesque pulp-and-paper-filled beaches. There, among the Salmon Fishermen and Headless Nuns, he was taught the most secretly-kept and heavily guarded chord in music by a hermit from Loggieville named "Bob" - The H Chord. Armed with this new-found knowledge, he joined up with such riotous acts such as "Running On Empty", "Crawl Space Only", "Cover Story", "Laggers, Beggars & Hangers-on", and that great classic pub trio "Fiddlehead JAM" (*sigh*... yes, they are all real names...) After meeting Brian in a dingy little spot, Alex lost a best-2-outta-3-contest of rock-paper-scissors and agreed to play at a coffee house show in Dieppe. Alex quickly learned he would be the one in charge of actually playing the music in the band, especially after Brian showed up to the first show with only a song book in hand. While Alex is known to primarily for playing his cherished Ovation guitar and the harmonica onstage, he has also dabbled with mandolin, bass, and the rare and seldom-seen Hamster Organ. |
